More often than not we are simply putting off the tasks because we are too lazy to complete them. Many times you will find that it is the more difficult, not such fun tasks that are being put off. Once a person gets into the habit of putting things off for the harder projects, it seeps into their lives on a daily basis and becomes a habitual way of living.
Sometimes people expect perfection for themselves (not me, I am plain and simple lazy). When a person expects perfection, they will procrastinate because they are mentally thinking that I won’t be able to complete this project because it is too hard for me.
Procrastination can be beaten!!! There are many ways to beat procrastination – having a happy and positive outlook on life is one of the keys. When I was in ninth grade my writing teacher asked us to create an advertisement offering a free item without cheapening what was being sold. Of course, being the naïve ninth graders that we were, most of us had emblazoned on our ads the word free in big and bold! As I learnt over the years, that is not necessarily the best way to go about it. Today the big question when advertising a free giveaway or promotional item is, what kind of crowd are you trying to attract?
Think about it. When was the last time you went into a store to purchase a Cartier watch and they offered you something free? If they did, you would think something was wrong with the watch. Free personifies cheap (which is not always a bad thing, but don’t forget how it is coming across). If you are a luxury goods provider you need to maintain both style and substance. The Decision Maker
I just discovered an item that looked like it could be a great promotional holiday gift for my customers, so like I do with many of our promotional items, I got myself a sample. The item is called “The Decision Maker”. Basically, it’s a brushed steel pen holder with a bunch of LED lights. When you have a tough decision to make, you press down on the pen and it cycles through a bunch of lights to find the answer for you. When the light stops, it says “No”, “Go Ahead”, “Not Now”, “Try Again”, etc. A fun executive gift to keep on a desk, kind of like corporate Russian roulette…. or so I thought. Well, a sample is worth a million words plus….When I held the item in my hands, my first, second and third reaction was… what a dud.
I brought the item home and put it on my counter. It was right before bedtime & when my son saw it, of course, being a typical boy, he had to try it. I told him that if he was going to try it, then he had to stick to whatever it says. More >
